Turbonomic adds features to Application Resource Management

The new features include continuous service optimization in Kubernetes and accurate container planning to ensure that applications have sufficient resources to perform.

Turbonomic this week introduced new features to its Application Resource Management platform. The additions are intended to enable organizations to speed up their applications modernization process, while ensuring continuous performance of cloud applications.

Modernizing legacy applications is one of the top four challenges facing IT infrastructure leaders, according to 2018 research by Gartner, but experts advise organizations to carry out the process as soon as possible.

Turbonomic said the new updates would help smooth the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline to ensure uninterrupted performance of cloud applications at scale. In addition, they also ensure that applications in an organization have sufficient resources when they need them to perform. The updates include:

  • Continuous service optimization in Kubernetes: Scales cloud-native applications, containers, pods and nodes based on resource demands in real time, or as part of an existing deployment process.
  • Container planning: Expands Kubernetes platforms in a timely manner through simulation of required capacity to integrate new services and accurate estimation of available headroom.

The new features build on Turbonomic''s full stack visibility and control, stitching applications, PaaS, CaaS and IaaS, the company said.

Turbonomic Application Resource Management is available for a 30-day free trial of its premier edition.

Turbonomic's competitors include VMware vRealize, which enables organizations to build applications in any cloud with secure operations, supporting major public clouds such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
