The underlying costs of cloud apps

Moving to the cloud is supposed to save enterprises tons of money. And in most cases, that's true. But where it isn't always accurate lies in the cloud apps that many enterprises migrate their workloads to. That's why it's so crucial for an enterprise to perform an on premises versus cloud cost comparison to make sure applications aren't more expensive to host in the public cloud than a legacy environment. Without the cost benefits, having an app outside your walls becomes even less appealing.

Meanwhile, many IT pros continue to have interest in containers, and they certainly have no problem sharing the good, bad and ugly of implementing Docker. What are IT pros saying about the much-publicized container software? As for continuous delivery, while it might not alleviate every single app problem, the right kind of implementation could pay dividends for an enterprise. After all, good enough makes things better for business.

All this and more in this month's Modern Infrastructure.
